A true piece of Saks Fifth Avenue couture history. This exquisite emerald green dress and matching cape set was handcrafted in 1963 under the “Sophie of Saks Fifth Avenue” label — a couture subdivision known for its refined tailoring and custom designs for Saks clientele. Provenance & History This ensemble was custom-made by a Saks Fifth Avenue seamstress — the original owner’s great grandmother — who worked in the couture department. Each stitch tells the story of mid-century luxury fashion: the set was made to order, sewing machine & hand stitching, carrying the internal couture tag handwritten with Lot No. 107, indicating either a numbered commission or part of a very limited atelier series. Pieces like this were never mass-produced — many were one-of-a-kind designs crafted for private clients.
