Wow, a piece of real history! Beautiful double breasted suit sold at the historic Ft. Worth department store, Monnig’s. Suit features all the classic wartime details and is the perfect mix of masculine and feminine fashions. DETAILS • authentic 1940s vintage Wilshire Modes • wool exterior, rayon liner • Good antique condition. Some moth damage; very small (I treated wool with cedar for you!). There is also a patch on the skirt. FIT • estimated modern XS to Small • Jacket: Length 22” Bust 33” Waist 26” • Skirt: Waist 25” Hips 38” HISTORY During WWII supply issues were part of daily life. Civilian women made do with 1-2 good suits from a retailer like Monnig’s, then hand-making blouses/accessories. If a suit wore out or ripped, it was brought to a seamstress to be repaired. This particular skirt has just such a patch; it’s barely visible and made with excess fabric cut from a seam.
