Closet Clean-Out Tips: 4 Questions to Ask Yourself💬

Cleaning out your closet doesn’t have to be confusing or stressful! Like looking through old photos or meeting up with a past friend, a closet clean-out can be a chance to reflect on how you’ve changed and where you’re headed. By taking the time to ask yourself four simple questions, you can be one step closer to having a thrifted wardrobe that changes with your lifestyle ♻️.

1. How does this fit me?

Try to dig a little deeper beyond how the piece fits your body – when you wear it, do you feel comfortable and confident? Try on some clothes in the mirror, turn on your favorite music, and take note of how the color, texture, and movement of the piece makes you feel. If you’re sure you’d want to resell a piece on Curtsy, you can use this time to start creating content for Try-On videos! Create a yes, no, and maybe pile, and remember that they aren’t set in stone. Pieces can be moved around as you keep asking yourself these questions.

2. How does this fit my lifestyle?

What do you spend a majority of your time doing for work, me-time, and social time? If you work from home, you’ll need comfy yet professional basics. To make getting out of the house on weekends that much more exciting, you might want some extra glam dresses (Revolve dresses are my go-to 💛). If you’re on a sports team at school, maybe you could use some North Face pieces that keep you cozy on walks to class and activewear that fits just right.

3. Can I give this more life or am I ready to let go?

Sometimes you’ll come across pieces you’ve had for so long you can’t imagine letting them go, like a leather jacket that’s been with you through years of ups and downs. Think about the care the item requires and if you have the time/energy to fix any damage. If it’ll just be taking up space after many closet cleanouts, it could feel refreshing to resell that pre-loved item to someone new! Even better if the category or brand is trending on Curtsy and could sell super quickly 🤑!

4. How can I expand on styles outside of my comfort zone?

The best part about a closet clean-out is that it helps your closet evolve with you 🌱. Are there any pieces that stuck out to you that you’ve been nervous to wear, but want to try, like vintage sweaters? Or a piece you thought was your aesthetic but no longer feels right (that might even still have the tags on 🏷️)? Reselling is the perfect way to explore looks outside of your comfort zone while knowing you’re sustainably switching pieces in and out.

5 Ways to Style Your New (or Old) Uggs

Uggs? Crew socks? Puffers? An Ugg campaign featuring our girl CHER?! ❤️‍🔥 This is sounding a lot more like 2009 and less like 2022, right? But don’t worry, whether you want to revive your decade-old Uggs or managed to get the new Ugg Mini II, Ugg Ultra Mini, Ugg Neumel, or platform slippers (Ugg Tazz, Ugg Tasman, or Ugg Disquette), we’ve seen it all at Curtsy and we are here to help you out.

Read on to see how to style your sweet sherpa kicks! We’re ranking these looks from dressed up to the most casual…

  1. Wide or straight legged trousers. Since we gave skinny jeans the kiss of death last year, we’ve been on the hunt for new ways to style our new favorite pair of trousers. Well, the good news is that the possibilities with Uggs are endless! Treat your trousers as you would with a good combat boot or your favorite sneaker: cuff your pants (show a little skin..or sock 😏) or flaunt the wide legged look by just letting them casually drape over the boot. This look works with any Ugg style.

  2. Denim. Take your favorite mom jeans or crisp white pair of denim and style them however you want with your Uggs. Similar to trousers, cuff ‘em, leave ‘em hanging, whatever you like. The fun part here is you can dress up your look with a button up and an oversized blazer or take the more casual approach with a hoodie and a statement coat.

  3. Leggings. Leggings? With Uggs? Groundbreaking. In all seriousness, this sounds like a no brainer, but dress up your Uggs with leather or wax-coated leggings or your favorite Gymshark, Lululemon, or Nike pair you snagged from Curtsy. Have fun with cool crew socks or a classic pair of socks from Nike. Throw on a cropped puffer or favorite wool winter coat.

  4. Flared yoga pants. Another comeback piece, yoga pants are no longer just for walking the dog or doing the downward dog. Style your Uggs and flared yoga pants with your go-to turtleneck sweater and an oversized blazer or a vintage crewneck and chunky gold jewelry. 🔑

  5. Sweatpants. This is a great way to continue the monochrome outfit look (remember all the neutral sweat suits you acquired in 2021?) and break up your look with Uggs. Tuck your sweatpants straight into the Uggs or layer them with crew socks. 🧦

PS. Want to know how to clean your Uggs and care for them? Most of the recent styles will come pre-treated by Ugg directly but we’d recommend looking for a kit that has a cleaning AND weather treating solution. The kits with a brush and stain eraser are clutch. 💯 Now your Uggs are ready for all the elements!

3 Aesthetics You NEED for Summer 2021 🌼

So the Summer is the time to have fun in the sun BUT there is a way to do it in style! There are three Summer aesthetics that have been trending lately 📈 so we have all the details on how to dress like the Coconut Girl, Maximalist, and Cottagecore babes this Summer! A lot of it you probably already have in your closet and the rest you can definitely find secondhand through the Curtsy App! We want the Curtsy Gals looking trendy this Summer so let’s get started!

🐚 Coconut Girl
The Coconut Girl is what we all THOUGHT we were dressing like when we wore brands like Billabong, Hollister and Pacsun in Middle school. She is a trendy, beachy, y2k/90s babe in Summer 2021! Some staples of the Coconut Girl include hibiscus print, crochet clothing, shells, beads, chunky jewelry, low rise mini skirts and baby tees, and of course – bucket hats and hair scarves!

💥 Maximalist
The Maximalist is someone who LOVES to stand out with bold prints and use fashion in showstopping ways. There has been such a push towards minimalism in fashion, interior design and style the last few years that it is not surprising that the opposite is making a statement. Some ways to find pieces in the Maximalism style world would be to mix patterns, geometric shapes, add bright colors, funky jewelry and avant garde clothing to your closet this season!

👒 Cottagecore
Cottagecore style started to rise in popularity last year when the world was significantly slowing down. People began spending time baking bread, spending more time in the gardens and going on nature walks to escape the reality of the state of the world. Cottagecore aesthetic is returning to simpler times – baking, making candles, wearing billowy sleeves, peasant tops and super feminine dresses. Floral patterns, gingham, muted and pastel tones, hats, scarves and appreciating the world around you is the perfect way to get in touch with your cottagecore self!
