This Week Only: 50% of All Borrows Will Be Donated To St. Jude Children’s Hospital

Did you know that St. Jude Children’s hospital was founded by a comedian?

SJ-color-logoBy the time he founded the hospital in 1962, Danny Thomas was one of the most well-known and successful entertainers in the world. But that wasn’t always the case.

As a young man living in Detroit, Thomas struggled for years to support his family through his work as a performer. According to the hospital history, a breakthrough moment in his life happened in a church before the patron saint of hopeless causes, St. Jude.

“Show me my way in life,” he promised the Saint, “and I will build you a shrine.”

It is a promise that he never forgot.

54 years after its founding, a statue of St. Jude donated by Thomas stands at the front of the hospital, serving as a beacon of hope for thousands of families that receive care each year.

That care, by the way, is free. No family pays for treatment at St. Jude. Caring for a sick child is a tremendous burden, and financial assistance is just one way the hospital positively impacts families.

Greek organizations like the Tri Delta sorority have been long-time supporters of the hospital, and this week, Nimble joins them in their effort to raise money for the incredible hospital.

Between now and Wednesday, April 20, 50% of all Borrows on Nimble will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Why? Because as Danny Thompson said, “no child should die in the dawn of life.”
