20 Tips to Ship: The Curtsy Shipping Guide

You know the old saying…ship happens! You’ve just sold something on Curtsy and now the only thing standing between you and scoring extra cash in your Curtsy Wallet is shipping. We’re here to show you that shipping is easy. Straight from our customer support team to you – here’s tips to becoming a shipping queen! With this shipping guide you’ll ship easy and have buyers (and USPS) coming back for more!

The 1-2-3-4 of Shipping

  1. Print out the shipping label we email to you or request a label to be mailed to you
  2. Pack your item in any small box or envelope, or use our Shipping Kit
  3. Give your package to USPS, schedule a pickup, or drop it in a USPS bin
  4. Be sure to mark your sale as “Shipped” in the app and you get paid once it ships!

For more details check out our Shipping FAQ Page

Label Tips: We’re into labels

  1. Print your label: Regular size 8 1/2 paper or label sticker works just fine!
  2. Use the link from Curtsy to print so the label is clear (not a photo of a photo).
  3. No printer? No problem! When creating your pre-paid label, tap “request label via mail”. We’ll mail your label the next business day, and you’ll receive it within 5-7 business days! Request a label soon after you sell to avoid delays.
  4. You can also find a printer near you at a print shop, school, friend’s house or public library.

Packaging Tips: Wrap it up

  1. Pack up your item, any small box or envelope will do!
  2. Order our Shipping Kit: Don’t worry about finding a box! Buy a shipping kit and we’ll send you mailers to have for your next sale.
  3. Sustainable packaging: Reuse a box or envelope (Yes, even an Amazon box). Remember to remove or cover old labels and tape.

💡Pro tip: In a pinch? Flip a previously used mailer inside out. What’s old is new again!

  1. Tape on your label, but DON’T tape over the barcode (it’s harder for USPS to scan over tape).
  2. Use tissue paper and padding on fragile items like sunglasses and jewelry, and to keep your items from moving around in the box.
  3. Keep it clean: Make sure items are dirt free and match your listing.
  4. Take photos of your item before and after packaging for your own records.

Personalization Tips: Be a little extra

  1. Add in a thoughtful thank you note, sticker, or extra gift with your package as a fun surprise for the buyer.
  2. Draw doodles on the package for a nice touch.

Drop off Tips: Options to Ship it!

  1. Let USPS come to you: You can schedule a pickup with USPS using this link, and USPS will come to you!
  2. Drop off at the post office: Leave your package with a clerk inside USPS, and be sure to get a receipt for your records!
  3. Use a blue USPS drop box: Drop your package in any USPS dropbox near you! (This option can sometimes come with increased delays, so try the options above first if you can! Be sure to snap a quick pic of the info on the drop box too!)

Quick Guide to a Winter Closet Clean Out

Who says you have to save your big closet clean out until Spring? The sun is officially setting later each day, so it’s the perfect time to take advantage of the burst of energy that comes with a bit of extra daylight! ✨

I have three easy steps you can follow to clean out your closet for this Winter season AND help you play your part in circular fashion* for years to come (*a sustainable approach to fashion where clothes are reused and recycled in endless amounts of ways, instead of throwing them away). ♻️

🔎 Figure out what’s already working

Imagine your closet as a place you can emerge from each day with a layer of armor that helps you take on the world  💪. I know that might seem impossible with a prom dress stuffed in the corner, or an old winter coat blocking the flared corduroy pants you just bought – but that’s all background noise for now! Time to take a deep breath and figure out what does work first.

First, ask yourself how you want to look and feel this season, and set aside the basics and classics that’ll fulfill that vision 👁️‍🗨️. Now comes the fun part – what are some unique gems buried in your closet that will show the world your outfits are made for you and no one else? Set these aside too! (Need some help? Make a 2022 vision board).

The answers might come right away – but if they don’t, you can always keep mental notes over a week or two on the pieces you are drawn to/wear the most, and set those aside in your closet 💭

💚 Make your space sustainable

If anything is constant, it’s change, but creating a space where you can cycle through changes and evolve will help you stay grounded for the long run. To keep the closet clean out momentum going throughout the year (and the year after that 🤩), try setting aside an area for all things resell. This could be a section of your closet, a corner of a room, or even an attic space, where you go to decide what you want to donate, resell, and buy for yourself. You can set up some warm lighting, a full-length mirror to try out different looks (and model items to list on Curtsy! 📸), and a cozy chair or floor pillow to pack up your sales and browse for those hidden gems (bonus points if you call this your Curtsy Corner 😉).

💎 Thrift Your Dream Closet

At this point, you probably can’t wait to level up your winter wardrobe with key pieces – like the perfect pair of platform Converse to go with your distressed dad jeans. But after taking inventory of what works, note what’s desperately needed. Maybe you’re way more comfortable in oversized denim this year instead of bombers.

Made it a goal to work out more? Why not treat yourself to Lululemon leggings in your favorite color? Or maybe you’ve picked up painting again and want a cute patterned bandana to keep your hair out of your eyes while you focus. Whichever items you end up thrifting, they’ll mean a lot to the person you’re working hard each day to become 🎇

By cleaning out the old and creating a closet space you want to keep going back to, you’ll turn sustainable fashion into a practice for life 🌍💙

Y2K Trends Making a Comeback in 2022

Every year it seems like another trend we collectively decided to get rid of a decade before becomes the IT clothing item to wear. At Curtsy, we are always trying to stay one step ahead so we are ready to dig out those Y2K comeback trends from the back of our closets and wardrobes! In 2022 there are already some expected trends to return from the 90s like, the puffer jacket, yoga pants and our personal fave – UGG! If you’re looking to achieve the full Y2K aesthetic, read on for our 3 style tips.

Puffer Everything

The puffer coat has gone in and out of style for years – literally DECADES! So it’s no surprise that it’s back on all the physical and virtual shelves. In the 2022 version of puffers, there are vests, bomber jackets, calf and ankle length in an assortment of colors. You can find all of our available Puffer options for Winter 2022 here on Curtsy! Our go-to brands for puffers are Aritzia, ZARA and Urban Outfitters.

Yoga Pants

If you can remember back to the middle (or high) school days, you were DEFINITELY wearing yoga pants. Probably with a low waist and some branded logo on the back. While we hung up our black yoga pants in the early 2000s, they are making quite the comeback in 2022. If you’d like to add some back into your wardrobe this year, you can shop them here on Curtsy! Some of our fave brands for yoga pants are Aerie, Lululemon and Alo Yoga.

UGG brand

A comeback that truly needs no introduction – UGG Brand is back and better than ever! When they first gained popularity, EVERYONE and their mom had a pair and the long length was the only way to go! Now in 2022, mini is in – the shorter the better! Some trending styles this year are the UGG Disquette, Funkette, Coquette, Bailey Bow, and the Classic Ultra Mini. If you got rid of your Uggs from the 90s, but want to bring them back, here’s what we have on Curtsy!

✨Ready to make a comeback?

Predicting future trends in fashion can always be fun, but it makes it way more interesting when we bring back trends from our past (Y2K, 90s, 80s, you name it). All of these comeback trends create the perfect winter outfit in an updated blast from the past. If you’d like some inspo styling these trends, you can check out this blog post here!

Curtsy 2022 Fashion Trend Predictions: 6 Styles to Shop

We have to admit, 2021 served us some iconic styles and vibes. From cottagecore to coconut girl, shackets and baguette bags. Will 2022 fashion trends dare to be as bold? Will she do it? We’ve rounded up styles we’re predicting will be seen everywhere this year. And yes, they’re pretty iconic!

Being in the business of fashion, we’re always looking out for current and upcoming styles to make sure we offer them to you on Curtsy. We check in with top searches and what our favorite influencers and trendsetters are wearing.

Scroll for the inside scoop on what 2022 fashion trends we’re seeing – from Pearlcore, to the year’s hottest heels, and a blast from the past. See a trend you’re ready to try? We give you styling tips and keywords to search to make it yours.

2022 fashion trend walk on the wild side
women wearing fashion trends sherpa coats, fur jackets, feather sleeves

For 2022 the details get fuzzy. Channel your inner animal by wearing fur…faux fur of course. (No animals were harmed in the making of this trend.) And in an exciting twist – the faux details aren’t reserved for winter coats. We’re obsessed with dresses and shirts flocked with feathers.

🔎 Search for keywords: sherpa coats, fur jackets, feather sleeves, ostrich feather, feather trim, fur trim

2022 fashion trend Y2K
showing 2022 trends bucket hats, flare yoga pants and leggings, new balance sneakers, platform shoes, Ugg minis

Cue the nostalgia, Y2K is still having a moment. How to do this trend right without looking outdated? Pick and choose styles from the past and pair them with a modern piece. Like New Balance sneakers with a casual dress or cropped trousers.

🔎 Search for keywords: bucket hats, berets, Ugg minis, flare yoga pants & leggings, New Balance sneakers, combat boots, platform loafers

2022 fashion trend Emily in Paris
women wearing 2022 fashion trends gloves, berets, tights, bow tops, color trend

We’re taking style inspo from our favorite American in Paris 🥐. This trend is Parisian sophistication meets bold glamour. Elevate your ‘fits with prim and proper accessories and embellishments like bows, opera gloves and statement tights. You’ll feel like you’re in Paris, without the jetlag.

🔎 Search for keywords: opera gloves, berets, lace tights, bow hair clips, bright pink, metallic shoes, statement coat, leather gloves, loafers

2022 fashion trend warm in style
women wearing 2022 fashion trends plaid scarves, Acne studios scarf, puffer, layering, quilted jacket

Thanks to this pandemic we started to look for comfort in our style. The obsession stuck and now we can’t get enough of items that have us feeling cozy. As temps get lower so do coats and pant legs. Floor-grazing puffers and quilted fabrics have us finally feeling comfy in the cold. The cozier the style the better.

🔎 Search for keywords: Acne studios scarves, plaid scarves, quilted jacket, puffer, button ups, turtlenecks, vests, vintage sweaters, crew neck sweater

describing luxe fashion trend
women wearing 2022 fashion trends Mach & Mach heels, Balenciaga Hourglass bag, Pearlcore trend

Because you deserve nice things. Lucky for you, you know just the place to get designer items at great prices 😉

Polish off your look with investment pieces like uniquely shaped designer bags or shiny objects like pearls. That’s right, Pearlcore is the current vibe that has us looking through our grandmother’s jewelry box. Shop for pearl-embellished straps or go crazy with a top entirely beaded with pearls and rhinestones

🔎 Search for keywords: Mach & Mach heels, Balenciaga Hourglass bag, pearl necklace, pearl headband, pearl nail art, pearl *everything* rhinestone *everything*, embellished top

2022 fashion trend color trends
women wearing 2022 fashion trends and color trends red, green, houndstooth

The last few years the color story was neutral with shades of tans and blacks. In 2021, we started seeing brands play with more colors in the crayon box. Get excited because in 2022 the future looks bright. Don’t shy away from colors, be bold with electric hues and dizzying prints. New year, do you!

🔎 Search for keywords: bright red, emerald green, houndstooth, plaid, checkered

Not sure where to start? We personally curated a shoppable list of trending pieces on Curtsy!

How to Have a More Sustainable Black Friday

Learn how to turn your Black Friday into ♻️Green Friday♻️ by saving money AND the planet today!

Did you know the biggest shopping day of the year also has a big impact on the Planet due to higher production and shipping? When Black Friday deals drop there’s no reason we should drop our love for Earth too. Turn Black Friday into Green Friday by shopping the Curtsy way. Here’s how to find great deals that make a small impact on your wallet and the Planet.

👋 Shop second hand (*cough-cough* CURTSY)

Spend Black Friday right by saving money AND the planet when you thrift shop. What’s your favorite online thrift store and why is it Curtsy 😉? There’s no better place to #extendthetrend and shop looks you love without all the guilt. Plus, every day feels like Black Friday with daily deals on the Curtsy app.

🛍 Support small & local

This year it’s more important than ever to shop small, because many small businesses are feeling the impact of the pandemic. Show your support by shopping locally at a boutique or online at Etsy. Small shops offer just as great of deals as the big guys.

💚 Shop eco-conscious brands

We see major red flags when a brand is afraid of commitment (to us and the Planet). This weekend shop responsibly from the below list of eco-conscious brands we admire.

Girlfriend-collective (30% off everything)
Galerie.La (Buy one get one 30% off all clothing)
Able (25% off site-wide)
Naadam (40% Off)
Wild cosmetics (25% off site-wide)
Pact (25% Off)
Parade (40% Off)
Whimsy and Row (Up to 75% off )
Tentree (up to 50% off)
Levi’s (40% off + free shipping)
Aday (up to 30% off select styles)

✔️Keep calm and shop smart

Impulse buys are fun, but knowing you took your time to find the best deal on what you actually need can be even better. This year make a list of what you need before you start shopping so you don’t gobble up every sale you see.

👯‍♀️Shopping in person? Buddy up!

Have plans to add fresh finds to an IRL shopping cart? Invite a wingman to your in-person adventure and carpool from store to store. Plus, don’t forget to bring along your reusable tote for your new items. The Planet will thank you!
